Distinguished Service Award


The Association for Women Veterinarians' Distinguished Service Award is open to any individual (man or woman, veterinarian or non-veterinarian). It recognizes special effort and contributions of an individual to advance and improve the status of women in veterinary medicine. 

Nominations should emphasize contributions made to advance or improve the status of women in veterinary medicine, such as contriubtions to professional groups, state or local associations, veterinary state boards, publications, etc.

Nominations may be submitted by an individual, a professional organization, or an institution. Nomination packets must include the name, address, and phone number of the nominee; the award for which the nomination is made, the nominee's professional activity, e.g., practice, research, etc., and the school and year of graduation of the nominee.

Materials included in support of a nomination may include but need not be limited to --

  • Professional, scientific, or service organizations of which the nominee is a member, including offices held or committee assignments
  • Honors and awards, publications, or other relevant activities
  • A biographical sketch including educational background
