The Distinguished Leadership Award for Internationals is given by the University of Minnesota Office of International Programs (OIP). The award honors leadership accomplishments of international alumni, former students and friends, and highlights their outstanding contributions in many different countries as a result of their association with the University of Minnesota.

Past awardees include Andres Gil, an alumnus of the College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Gil earned his M.S. at the College in 1991 and his Ph.D. in 1993. His thesis on foot and mouth disease was credited with assisting in the eradication of the disease from Uruguay, his native country.
