Distinguished Women Scholars Award


Established in 2001 and supported by the Office of the Dean of the Graduate School and the Office for University Women at the University of Minnesota, the Distinguished Women Scholars Award is given to one person per year in these areas:

  • Sciences and engineering
  • Humanities, social sciences, and arts

Each scholar is awarded $2,000 to be used for research, scholarly, or artistic activities.

Eligibility
Eligibility is limited to tenured faculty who have been at the University of Minnesota for at least five years.

Nomination procedure
While nominations should ordinarily be made by the department chair or a standing departmental nomination committee and forwarded to the dean, direct nominations by deans are also acceptable.
