Cardona avian influenza outbreak

The Department of Veterinary and Biomedical Sciences is the research unit of the College. Department faculty conduct multidisciplinary, leading edge research investigations in basic and applied health sciences that advance our understanding of diseases that affect the lives of animals and humans, including Inflammation Regulation, Canine Genetics, and Avian Influenza. Collaborative links exist with the Medical School, the School of Public Health, the College of Food and Natural Resources, and the College of Pharmacy. The Department is home to the Pomeroy Endowed Chair in Avian Health. Our research is central to the missions of many University of Minnesota Centers of Research Excellence, including the College of Veterinary Medicine Office of Research, the Swine Disease Eradication Center, the Institute for Molecular Virology, the Equine Center, the Center for Animal Health and Food Safety, and the Biomedical Genomics Center
