One Health Partnerships 2013

The Center for Animal Health and Food Safety (CAHFS) and the Global Initiative for Food Systems Leadership (GIFSL) hosted the sixth annual One Health Partnerships Meeting on April 16, 2013 at McNamara Alumni Center.

This annual meeting promotes interdisciplinary partnerships focused on managing emerging issues in public health by creating opportunities for colleagues to forge new collaborations and leverage public/private resources.

Participants had the opportunity to submit innovative proposals for $10,000 in seed grant funding. The chosen proposals demonstrate new collaborations with potential to address local and global One Health challenges through research, education or outreach.

  OHP 2013 Mac Discussion
The workshop commenced with talks by College of Food, Agricultural, and Natural Resource Sciences Dean Allen Levine and Will Hueston of GIFSL. Attendees then participated in interactive case studies to tackle local and global food and nutrition challenges. This was followed by speeches from the College of Veterinary Medicine Dean Dr. Trevor Ames and a wrap up from Dr. John Finnegan of the School of Public Health. The diverse backgrounds of the speakers and participants showcased the potential of One Health to bring together professionals from various disciplines to confront public health issues.
