OIE Veterinary Education Twinning Project Overview

  • Who: Faculty, residents, and veterinary students of Chiang Mai University and the University of Minnesota
  • Why: Enhance public good of veterinary medicine and strengthen global veterinary service capacities
  • What: Identify curriculum gaps by comparison to the World Animal Health Association (OIE) guidelines for veterinary education core curricula and Day 1 competencies for graduating veterinarians. Gaps will be closed through development of new coursework, online teaching modules, and teaching skills workshops. Twinning will also support student and faculty exchanges.
  • How: The twinning project uses a collaborative capacity building approach to enhance the ability of veterinarians to prevent the spread of animal disease, identify and quickly respond to new and emerging diseases, and improve food safety
  • Dates: July 2013 - September 2015
