Jaime Modiano joined the College of Veterinary Medicine in 2007 as professor of Comparative Oncology holding the Al and June Perlman Endowed Chair. He earned his V.M.D. and Ph.D. (Immunology) degrees from the University of Pennsylvania through the Veterinary Medical Scientist Training Program. He completed a residency in clinical pathology and a post-doctoral fellowship at Colorado State University and at the National Jewish Medical and Research Center. He served on the faculties of Texas A&M University and the University of Colorado before moving to Minnesota. He is inspired by the sense of discovery—seeing something for the first time that no one has ever seen.
He is a cycling and hiking enthusiast, who has completed the “Ride the Rockies” bike tour four times. His wife, Michelle Ritt, D.V.M., is a board certified internist and an associate clinical professor of medicine at the University’s Veterinary Medical Center. They have a champion agility Gordon setter, Logan, and a champion lake swimmer, Quetzal, a German shepherd.
