CVM-School of Dentistry Leadership Conference planned for January 22 The 2011 School of Dentistry and College of Veterinary Medicine Leadership Conference will be held Saturday, January 22, from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. in Pomeroy Student-Alumni Learning Center. Sponsored by alumni for students, the conference will answer questions such as: - What type of work environment is important to me in my first position after graduation?
- How can I identify productive practices and doctors as potential employers?
- How do I protect and manage my financial interests in my first contract?
The agenda includes a panel discussion with alumni sharing their experiences and observations of young leaders starting careers—specifically, what were keys to their success or factors in their mistakes? The day will also include case study discussions with alumni on job search and career concerns and brief lectures on finding the right “fit” in a future employer and setting and realizing goals. Students may register for the conference at www.surveymonkey.com/s/leadershipconference2011. Questions? Contact Bre Ward at ward0290@umn.edu. Real-time energy demand dashboards available The University's Energy Management Group has developed real-time energy demand dashboards for every metered building on campus, believing that increasing the campus community's understanding and awareness of when and where energy is consumed is a critical part of the effort to make the U more energy-efficient. The dashboards show now much energy a building is using, projected costs, and projected CO2 emissions. For an alphabetical list of buildings with links to the dashboards, visit http://meters.energy.umn.edu/dsb/home.html# World campaign celebrates history of veterinary medicine The European Commission and the World Organisation for Animal Health have launched the “Vets in Your Daily Life” campaign in celebration of the 250th anniversary of the veterinary profession.
