CVM maintains top 10 ranking

The College of Veterinary Medicine maintained its top 10 ranking, coming in ninth in the national rankings recently released by U.S. News & World Report.

Dairy Appreciation Award recipients announced

The College will honor John Vrieze and Jim Lewis with Dairy Appreciation Awards at the Minnesota Dairy Health Conference in May. Vrieze and Lewis will be recognized for their outstanding contributions to the dairy industry and for supporting the CVM’s education and research missions. The Minnesota Dairy Health Conference will be held May 22-24 at the Minneapolis Airport Marriott. Learn more.

Plant sale set for April 18 &19

The College of Biological Sciences (CBS) annual plant sale conducted by the CBS greenhouses and CBS phytograduate students is planned for Wednesday, April 18, and Thursday, April 19. The sale will be held in the Minnesota Commons of the St. Paul Student Center from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. both days and offer a large selection of blooming annuals, tropical plants, herbs, carnivorous plants, succulents and orchids. An orchid and succulent expert will be present to answer questions about their care, and staff from the CBS greenhouses will be on hand to answer questions about the other plants. Lecture on global food safety planned for April 25

The Consortium on Law and Values will host the lecture "Global Food Safety Regulatory and Policy Challenges," by Jørgen Schlundt, Ph.D., deputy director, National Food Institute, Technical University of Denmark, on April 25 from 11:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m. at the St. Paul Student Center Theater. The moderator will be Shaun Kennedy, director, National Center for Food Protection and Defense. "Diagnosing Feline Hyperaldosteronism," "Feline Hyperaldosteronism: Recognition and Diagnosis," and "Hyperaldosteronism Case Report: Reviving a Senior Cat's Verve," by Dr. Joseph Bisignano and Dr. David S. Bruyette, were published in the March 1 issue of Veterinary Medicine. Joseph, an internal medicine resident, is also pictured on the cover with Dr. Lindsay Merkel's cat.
