Feline Urinary Diet Trials
NEW CLINICAL STUDIES TO EVALUATE CATS WITH SIGNS OF LOWER URINARY TRACT DISEASE The University of Minnesota, Veterinary Medical Center has four clinical studies evaluating the effectiveness of diet to manage several lower urinary tract diseases in cats. These controlled, randomized studies are performed on qualifying feline patients at no cost to owners. These studies are best suited for cats with: - Magnesium Ammonium Phosphate (Struvite) bladder stones
- Recently removed Struvite bladder stones
- Recently removed Calcium Oxalate bladder stones
- Idiopathic cystitis
These studies are NOT for cats: - With urethral obstruction
- With inappropriate urination due to urine marking or behavioral disease
- With major organ disease (e.g. kidney failure, diabetes, heart failure)
- Who are very anxious or fractious
- Who primarily live outdoors
Recent treatments likely to EXCLUDE your client from participating or delaying entrance are antibiotics, glucocorticoids (e.g. prednisone), and some therapeutic foods to treat lower urinary tract disease.
