How to Submit Samples

Thank you for your interest in submitting uroliths to our laboratory for analysis.

We perform quantitative analysis on uroliths from small animal, large animal, and exotic patients at NO CHARGE.

Please fill out the Urolith Submission Form(PDF) or Urolith Submission Form(DOC) completely. We use the information related to each urolith case for epidemiology studies.

Samples should be submitted to us DRY in a non-breakable container. DO NOT submit urolith samples in formalin because it may alter crystalline structure and interfere with analysis. Samples submitted in formalin or unknown liquid require special handling and drying techniques. This does significantly delay results to you.

Please send all uroliths removed from the patient, or a representation of sizes and shapes. Samples can be sent via US Mail or through your preferred shipper.  For packaging instructions for non-infectious clinical samples see:  United States Postal Service Packaging Instruction 6C or contact your preferred shipper for instructions on complying with IATA Regulation 3.6.2.2.3.6.

Currently, our lab does not provide mailers.  For your convenience you can print out the shipping label below.

In most cases you may expect urolith results accompanied by recommendations for prevention by mail approximately two weeks after the samples arrive at our laboratory.

Contact us if you have further questions.
