Beaver, Bonnie


Dr. Bonnie Beaver, class of 1968, is the president of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) and a professor at Texas A&M University's College of Veterinary Medicine in College Station, Texas. In 2001, she received the Friskies PetCare Award in honor of her outstanding contributions to behavior medicine. In 2002, she received the Leo K. Bustad Companion Animal Veterinarian of the Year Award.

On May 7, 2005, she addressed the 78 members of the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine's class of 2005 at her alma mater's 54th commencement ceremony at Northrop Memorial Auditorium in Minneapolis, Minn.
