Swenberg, James

Dr. James Swenberg, class of 1966, received the Distinguished Research Alumni Award at the College's Points of Pride Research Days event on March 22-23, 2005. Swenberg presented the Distinguished Research Alumnus Seminar, “Molecular Dosimetry: A Tool to Understand Carcinogen Metabolism, DNA Damage, and Repair.” Bert Stromberg, associate dean for veterinary research and graduate programs, described Swenberg as “the epitome of an accomplished researcher.”

In February 2006, Dr. Swenberg was appointed to Kenan Distinguished Professor of Environmental Sciences and Engineering, an endowed faculty position awarded to outstanding scholars and teachers at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
