Osborne/Hill's Chair in Nephrology/Urology

Dr. Carl Osborne This fund was created in 1998 to provide support for a faculty position in small animal nephrology and urology at the College of Veterinary Medicine. In recognition of Dr. Osborne’s extraordinary career, the College began a fundraising effort to endow a chair in his name. The chair was named the Osborne/Hills Chair in Nephrology/Urology to reflect the long-standing partnership and support that Hill's Pet Nutrition Inc. has given to Dr. Osborne and the College.

Dr. Osborne has authored 3 textbooks, edited 19 textbooks, written more than 300 book chapters, and published over 500 scientific articles. He is the recipient of honorary doctor of science degrees from the University of Gent in Belgium and Purdue University. Dr. Osborne also received the International Prize for Scientific Achievement from the World Small Animal Veterinary Association, The Robert R. Shomer Award for the Advancement in Veterinary Medical Ethics from the Society of Veterinary Medical ethics, and the Hill's Animal Welfare and Humane Ethics Award from the American Animal Hospital Association. He established the Minnesota Urolith Center in 1981.
