GOALe 2007 - Ramp 1

Welcome incoming Class of 2013! The start of your veterinary program is quickly approaching. Orientation will begin with a kick-off picnic on Tuesday, September 1, 2009 at 4:30 p.m. in the Pomeroy Center. The following day (Wednesday, September 2, 2009) we’ll meet again at 7:30 a.m. in the lobby of the Animal Science/Veterinary Medicine building for GOALe!

GOALe (Gopher Orientation and Leadership Experience) will bring together the new members of the Class of 2013, faculty mentors, veterinary leaders from the community and veterinary student leaders. The objectives of GOALe are to introduce the professional skills that are essential components for success in the curriculum and the profession, and to allow you to begin building connections with your classmates. GOALe is based on the model introduced at the AVMA Veterinary Leadership Experience (VLE). The VLE was created in response to a number of studies that show that veterinarians require both excellent medical skills and well-developed professional skills to be successful. A number of our students and faculty have attended the VLE over the last several years and some of the creators of VLE will be with us at camp to help introduce leadership concepts.

We’ll depart for Camp St. Croix at 8 a.m. sharp and will spend the entire day and the following day (September 3) at the camp. This includes an overnight stay on Wednesday night, so be sure to pack appropriately. We will return you to campus on Thursday, September 3 around 6 p.m. We’ll meet again in the Animal Science/Veterinary Medicine lobby on Friday, September 4 for the final day of orientation here at the college. A more detailed schedule will be available soon.

The links below will provide you with a welcome letter from our GOALe Faculty Course Coordinators, the Camp St. Croix health form, and a list of items to bring with you to camp.
