Creating Web sites

Every student and every student organization has free Web space reserved on the University of Minnesota server. To put a Web site on the server, you need to be connected to the Internet and you need a way to transfer files. Certain programs such as Dreamweaver and Frontpage have FTP (file transfer protocols) built into the program. If you do not have one of these programs, you can use WS-FTP. If you do not have this program, click FTP to download it.

Server Access: FTP
FTP Host: username.email.umn.edu
Host Directory: web-docs/
Login: username
Password: password

The username and password are the same as those to check your University e-mail.

Student organizations automatically have web space available. Student organizations should contact the Academic and Student Affairs Office for website set-up and assistance.
