From veterinarians to molecular scientists, the College of Veterinary Medicine is educating professionals who improve the health and well-being of animals and people in Minnesota and around the world. In 1951, the University of Minnesota's first veterinary graduates began providing care for animals.
Today, the College of Veterinary Medicine offers several educational options, including the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (D.V.M.) degree, a dual Doctor of Veterinary Medicine and Master of Public Health program (D.V.M./M.P.H.), a Master of Science (M.S.) or Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in either comparative and molecular biosciences or veterinary medicine, or a dual Doctor of Veterinary Medicine/Doctor of Philosophy (D.V.M./Ph.D.) program.
Currently, 70 percent of Minnesota's practicing veterinarians are College of Veterinary Medicine alumni. Graduates also are employed in industry, the military, government, and higher education.
