Residency and Reciprocity
Residents of all states are considered for admission. Priority is given to residents of Minnesota and South Dakota. Under a tuition contract with North Dakota (ND), up to five seats in the class will be reserved for qualified ND residents; all other accepted ND applicants would pay non-resident tuition. All ND applicants will be evaluated in the same pool as other resident applicants. Residency for admission purposes is determined by the Residency Officer in the Office of the Registrar and must be established one year prior to the application deadline in early October. Applicants from all other states will be considered for approximately 45 of 100 seats in the class. Citizens of other countries will be considered for admission if their pre-veterinary coursework has been taken at an accredited U.S. college or university. International students should contact the D.V.M. Admissions Office at dvminfo@umn.edu regarding specific application guidelines.
