The College of Veterinary Medicine offers scholarships to students just beginning their veterinary college career and those just finishing. The College awarded approximately $250,000 in scholarships for incoming and current students in 2011. The scholarships and awards committee meets annually to make decisions pertaining to awards, using scholarship specific criteria that may include academic performance, interest in specific species, written essays, and more. The College also receives notice of many external scholarship opportunities which will be posted on the Scholarship Opportunities page. Current students will also be notified of new postings via their MyU Portal.
Emergency loans in the amount of $1,000 or less are available on short notice to help students through unexpected financial crises. The program is made possible by special funds set aside by the Minnesota Veterinary Medical Association. Contact the Director of Academic Affairs, 108 Pomeroy Center for application materials. Short term loans of $250 or less do not require a co-signer.
