Academic Interests,

  • Investigation of the pathogenesis of meningitis caused by Streptococcus and Haemophilus parasuis.
  • Development of diagnostic methods for infectious diseases of swine.
  • Streptococcus suis: characterization of virulence factors; investigation of the pathogenesis of infection and study of the interactions between bacteria and host phagocytic and non-phagocytic cells (epithelial and endothelial cells); study of strategies to curb infection and investigation of the inflammatory response (cytokines).
  • Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae: antigenic characterization; development of immunological and molecular methods for diagnosing asymptomatic carrier animals.
  • Haemophilus parasuis: study of virulence factors and investigation of the pathogenesis of infection, more specifically on meningitis.
