Admission Requirements
- B.A. or B.S. in biological sciences may be considered, and/or D.V.M.
- A preferred performance level of 3.25 GPA (on a 4-point scale)
- Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores (obtained within five years)
- Research and/or laboratory experience (preferred)
- Students whose native language is not English are required to submit scores (obtained within two years) from one of the following English proficiency examinations:

Unofficial Transcripts
Unofficial transcripts or academic records must be submitted directly to the ApplyYourself online application. Please do not submit paper copies of this material because it will cause delays in your application processing. Click here for more detailed instructions.
If you have been previously enrolled at the University of Minnesota (any campus), you can get electronic copies of your transcripts from OneStop student services.
Official Transcripts
You will only be asked to submit official transcripts or academic records if you are admitted. These must be submitted before you register and enroll at the University of Minnesota.
If you have attended universities that issue official transcripts on request, you must have these materials sent to the Graduate School Admissions Office directly from the institution. An official, notarized (signature and seal) English translation should be attached if the transcript is not in English.

The CMB program admits students for Fall Semester, and the application deadline is December 15. Financial Support
Incoming Ph.D. students are supported during their first year by the CMB Graduate Program with a Research Assistantship position that includes a $22,500 stipend, a tuition waiver, and healthcare benefits. During subsequent years, students are supported financially by their faculty advisor, identified during their first year of study. After successfully passing the preliminary exams during the second year in the Ph.D. program, the stipend is increased to $23,500. The program does not provide funding to support M.S. candidates; students interested in earning an M.S. must identify, with assistance from the program, a faculty advisor who will support their studies.
