Degrees

The CMB program offers three graduate degree options:

Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.)

The PhD degree is appropriate for students that wish to pursue a career in research or academia. It requires the successful defense of a body of work in research that demonstrates that the student is capable of quality independent research.

Master of Science (M.S.)

A traditional MS program, the MS Plan A has coursework and research, culminating in a successful thesis research. The breadth and depth of research accomplishments are less stringent than those of the PhD program.

D.V.M.- Ph.D. Combined Program

The combined degree program is a collaboration between the basic sciences and clinical medicine. Clinician scientists are skilled in both hypothesis-based research and clinical practice. The combined degree curriculum requires completion of all professional degree requirements as well as additional graduate study and bench research leading to the completion of a Ph.D. thesis.
