Services and Rates
Services provided by the IAR and current rates (ISO):
Distribution of Catalogued Infectious Agent(s):
The IAR functions as a repository housing a collection of various research and clinical isolates that can be requested by University investigators for research purposes. These samples are stored appropriately to maintain sample integrity until requested for internal distribution. Samples banked in the repository may be retrieved and distributed based on specific needs for research studies.
• Collection distribution (per sample) $ 53.00
• Shipping charges (if required) $ at cost
Ultra-low storage space for clinical and research samples:
Ultra-low freezer space may be utilized for storage, both long-term and short-term, of clinical or research samples by University researchers. All samples will be catalogued using the Repository inventory software. Freezers are monitored continuously by the Building Services Automation Center (BSAC), and IAR staff members are made aware of significant fluctuations in temperature.
Researchers wishing to manage stored samples using the Repository inventory software can purchase a software license (see Inventory Software Usage fee).
Rates for storage per year for 2013 are as follows:
• per storage unit (3 samples in triplicates, minimum storage) $ 7.00
• per box (81 samples) $ 60.00
• per rack (16, 2”-boxes) $ 900.00
Other dimensions, including racks to accommodate 15 mL or 50 mL conical tubes, and entire freezers, are available. Please contact the IAR for further details.
Inventory Software Usage:
FreezerPro inventory software will be available for a fee to researchers to maintain their own freezer inventory off-site or to manage their samples stored in the Repository.
•Initial license fee (one-time fee) $ 120.00
• Annual user fee $ 49.00
Inventory management services:
Freezer inventory, both within the facility or off-site, can be managed by Repository personnel.
• Off site freezer management (per freezer/year) $ 2089.00
Clinical sample processing:
Clinical samples from ongoing research experiments or surveillance studies may be received in this laboratory for processing. Current processing services include isolation of cells and/or serum from whole blood, isolation of nucleic acids, elispot assays, and elisa assays. Alternative protocols can be developed in collaboration with interested researchers as needed. A minimum information data set associated with all clinical samples will be collected for storage and/or archiving.
• Prices vary depending on procedure and will be determined on a contract basis. Please contact the IAR with inquiries.
Roche Lightcycler 480
The Repository houses a Roche Lightcycler 480, a high-performance, flexible throughput PCR platform (exchangeable 96- or 384-multiwell plate format) that provides various methods for gene detection, gene expression analysis, genetic variation analysis, and array data validation.
• Rate: $15/run
The Repository acts as a source of liquid nitrogen (LN) for researchers. LN will be dispensed by IAR staff into approved containers.
• Rate: $1.00/liter
Disclaimer: Prices, effective until July 2014, and services are subject to change annually.
