Equine Center Groundbreaking

University of Minnesota Breaking Ground on New Equine Center

What:
Join the Minnesota horse community for the groundbreaking of the University of Minnesota Equine Center, a pioneer of excellence in equine education, research, and care.

In conjunction with the groundbreaking, Dr. Patricia Olson, Executive Director of the Morris Animal Foundation, will announce that the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine will led a new $2.5 million Equine Consortium for Genetic Research program.

When:
Wednesday, August 9 from 4-5 p.m.

Where:
Northeast corner of the University of Minnesota St. Paul Campus. Follow the signs off of Larpenteur and Gortner Avenues for free parking.

Background:
This state-of-the art complex will include a conference hall, indoor arena, a modern high-speed treadmill, and custom-designed lameness and reproductive evaluation areas. The progressive equine program incorporates the many unique academic resources only available at the University to produce meaningful, innovative advancements in the health, well-being, and performance of the horse.

The Equine Center is destined to be a preeminent facility, providing state-of-the-art diagnostic capabilities, research focused on the causes of performance problems in equine athletes, and in-depth education. The University of Minnesota is committed to preparing the next generation of equine veterinarians who are well served with the latest knowledge and technological tools in equine medicine and surgery.
