Abandoned Dog Receives Prostetic Limbs

Mr. Dtubs

A friendly shitzu is learning a new way to get around after being found abandoned outside a groomers last Thanksgiving, unable to walk due to matted hair that had strangled two of his limbs, causing them to fall off. Thanks to the work of Dr. Elizabeth LaFond at the University of Minnesota’s Veterinary Medical Center and Robert Tillges of Tillges Certified Orthotic Prosthetics, Inc., Mr. Stubbs has been fitted with two new prosthetic limbs. The pup has also found a new Minnesota family to call home. The Lyon County Humane Society helped raise a portion of the funds but money is still needed to pay for Mr. Stubb's long-term care. If you are interested in donating, please send donations to:

Although rare, prosthetic limbs are one of the many rehabilitation services Dr. Lafond and the Veterinary Medical Center offer for pets, in their goal to relieve pain and optimize patient strength and function after injury or disease.
