Yoga is back!

Thanks to the popularity of the yoga classes offered in December, Social Work Services is coordinating a six-week yoga series. The cost of the six-class package will depend on the number of people signed up (between $45-$60 per person, with a maximum class size of 10). This rate is comparable to those charged by many health clubs – and the good news is that  the class is here at the College!

Dates: Wednesday nights, March 21 through April 25
Time: 5-6 p.m.
Location: 281 VDL

Come and explore the stress-reduction benefits of yoga, a practice that uses specific postures and stretching to enhance health and well-being. It is a proven way to alleviate stress, burnout, and fatigue. The yoga instructor will be Margot Bassett, who teaches yoga at One Yoga Studio in Minneapolis. The class is open to all students, staff, and faculty of the CVM, and no previous experience is necessary. Mats will be provided. To register, contact Lisa Havelin at lhavelin@umn.edu by March 12.

Meat sales resume on Wednesdays from 3-5 p.m.
The meat sales room is open again for business on Wednesdays from 3-5 p.m. in 26 Andrew Boss Lab (Meat Science). A variety of beef and pork products are offered, with prices ranging from 50 cents for a pound of suet to $1.60 for a pound of ground pork to $12 a pound for beef tenderloin. Customers are welcome to stop in, call ahead, or order for the following week. For more information, call Dave or Mike at 4-9270.

Points of Pride Research Days set for March 20-21--
Call for abstracts
Points of Pride Research Days, the College's annual celebration of research accomplishments, is scheduled for March 20-21. The event will include a poster presentation and competition for Summer Scholars and graduate students, residents, and post-docs, with $250 awards for the best poster in each category.

Abstract submission forms may be requested from Erin Mann at mann0162@umn.edu and must be submitted electronically by March 1. When filling out the abstract form, substitute the title of your abstract where the form says "Title," substitute the author(s) name(s) in the appropriate spaces, and include your abstract. Abstracts must be in Times New Roman 12-pitch font and should be submitted electronically to Erin at mann0162@umn.edu. Posters must be no larger than 3 by 5 feet (or 5 by 3 feet) and will be displayed March 20-23 on the poster rails in the lobby and first-floor hallways of the Animal Science/Veterinary Medicine building.

Poster presenters will be expected to be available for 30 minutes during the poster judging, which will be held from 3:30-5:00 p.m. on March 20. The judges will speak to each individual participating in the competition. Winners will be announced after the 3 p.m. Distinguished Alumni Seminar on March 21, with a reception to follow. If you have questions about Points of Pride Research Days or the abstract submission process, contact Erin Mann at 4-2744 or Dr. Bert Stromberg at 5-7008.
