Students honored at annual CVM scholarship receptionThe College awarded more than $200,000 in scholarships at the annual CVM scholarship reception at the Continuing Education and Conference Center on April 15. The CVM awards ceremony has changed format in recent years to a smaller and more intimate event that connects students and donors. The faculty on the awards committee participate, as do some members of the Administrative Council, rather than the past format, where all faculty were encouraged to attend. After a welcome from Dean Trevor Ames, the College of Veterinary Medicine Outstanding Service Award was presented to Phil Jenni, executive director of the Wildlife Rehabilitation Center. Lindsey Hornickel, class of 2012, presented “The Scholarship Experience,” a student’s perspective on the importance of scholarships, and Dr. Ned Patterson, assistant professor, introduced the Class of 1997 Greg Gramer Memorial Scholarship, a new award for second-year veterinary students that was presented to Paul Syverson. Dean Ames and Laura Molgaard, associate dean for academic and student affairs, presented the Caleb Dorr Scholarship to Andrew Carver, Katherine Olson, Alex Primus and Molly Winter and the Caleb Dorr Award to Molly Winter.
