National Animal Disease Center Tour
This is a unique opportunity to tour the National Center of Animal Health Campus (NCAH). The Campus houses the National Animal Disease Center (USDA’s largest animal disease research laboratory), National Veterinary Services Laboratories (USDA’s diagnostic laboratories) and the Center for Veterinary Biologics (USDA’s center for evaluating and regulating diagnostic test kits, vaccines and other biologics). NCAH is nearing completion of a modernization project that began in 1998. The tour will include visiting the new (completed in 2009) state of the art, 545,803 sq. ft. combined laboratory facility, animal housing units (field barns, low containment, and high containment) and the BSL-3 laboratory housing the Mycobacteria/Brucella laboratories.
