The University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM) and the International Association of Veterinary Rehabilitation and Physical Therapy will host the 5th International Symposium on Rehabilitation and Physical Therapy in Veterinary Medicine, August 13-16, 2008 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA.
The symposium will provide the opportunity to hear the most current scientific and clinical information in this exciting field. The four-day event will include:
- lectures presented by researchers and clinicians with veterinary and physical therapy training
- focused discussions during daily breakfast forums
- laboratory and demonstration sessions covering many clinical aspects of animal rehabilitation
- poster and abstract sessions noting the latest research
- case reports including unique conditions and treatment modalities
- tradeshow featuring the latest equipment available
The symposium will highlight the collaborative relationship between veterinary and physical therapy professionals. The symposium’s opening presentation by Ann Bancroft, one of the world's preeminent polar explorers and internationally recognized leader, will address this theme with her presentation on “Collaboration and Teamwork”.
Animal rehabilitation is rapidly growing and rehabilitation services have become integral partners for many veterinary practices and teaching hospitals. Nationwide and beyond, veterinary professionals and physical therapy professionals are actively working together to develop treatment programs and deliver successful therapy.
Continuing education credit approved for DVMs, veterinary technicians, and PTs is available.
