Leman Chair in Swine Health and Productivity, College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Minnesota

Al Leman The Allen D. Leman chair in Swine Health and Productivity was established in 1995 to honor the career of an outstanding faculty member at the University of Minnesota. The position comes with the expectation that it will significantly influence how the swine industry adapts to change. In addition, this individual will be expected to act as a catalyst for innovation and change within the University of Minnesota swine faculty. The chair is considered to be one of the most prestigious faculty positions in the world involving swine medicine. The position is one of great significance to the swine industry of Minnesota.

Fund Activity

Dr. Peter Davies, a globally recognized expert in swine epidemiology and production, holds the Allen D. Leman Chair in swine Health in Productivity. He earned his B.V.Sc. from Melborne University and his Ph.D. from University of Sydney, New South Wales. His major interests include Swine health and production, foodborne pathogens and zoonotic disease in food animal production systems, veterinary epidemiology, antimicrobial use in food animal production and antimicrobial resistance, disease surveillance and regional disease control, societal issues related to food animal productio
