Clinical Investigation Center news
New form for research in Veterinary Medical Center
Veterinary Medical Center administration and the Clinical Investigation Center (CIC) have developed a hospital impact checklist  for research taking place in the hospital. The form is now required for all research studies that use client animals or hospital resources.

The Hospital Impact Checklist asks for the basics of the study in a format designed to help the investigator identify areas of the VMC that will or might be affected. Forms are found online (see below) and turned into the CIC for processing.  This process was modeled after what is working in other veterinary teaching hospitals. The primary benefits of the hospital impact checklist are:

Researchers have been asked to begin using the checklist immediately. The checklist should be filled out when you are submitting an IACUC or beforehand if you think there could be resource or pricing issues. Where do you find it?  Currently, it is available on the CIC Web site: www.cvm.umn.edu/cic/Investigators/Downloads/home.html  In the near future, the form will be on the VMC Informatics page as well.

Kathy Stuebner, research coordinator in the CIC, is available to help complete the form. Forms are turned in to her in a box by her office – 440B VMC, or through interoffice mail.

Mike Conzemius, Alexa Hart, Vicki Wilke, Catherine St. Hill, Jody Lulich and Josephine Gnanandarajah participated in the pilot of the checklist.
