Points of Pride Research Days are Tuesday and Wednesday
The College's annual Points of Pride Research Days event is scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday.
The event will begin with a Tuesday poster competition in the lobby of the Animal Science/Veterinary Medicine building from 2:30-5:00 p.m. Graduate students, Summer Scholars, postdoctorals, and residents will present their research, and faculty, staff, and students are invited to view the posters and enjoy refreshments. On Wednesday from 3:00-4:20 p.m., two seminars will be presented in 125 Animal Science/Veterinary Medicine:
Solving the Problem of PRRS: Knowledge is Power, presented by Dr. Michael Murtaugh, 2008 Pfizer Research Excellence Award recipient
Improving Our Understanding of Metastasis Biology and Therapy Through a Comparative Approach, presented by Dr. Chand Khanna, 2008 Distinguished Research Alumnus
The seminars will be followed by the presentation of poster awards at 4:20 p.m. and a reception for award recipients in the Animal Science/Veterinary Medicine lobby at 4:30 p.m. For more information, contact Shan Balmer at 4-3002.

Annual plant sale scheduled for April 2-3
The annual plant sale conducted by the College of Biological Sciences (CBS) greenhouses and phytograduate students is scheduled for April 2 and April 3 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Located in the Commons of the Student Center, the plant sale will offer blooming annuals, tropical plants, herbs, carnivorous plants, succulents, and orchids. An orchid professional will be on hand to answer questions about the care and culture of orchids on sale, and staff from the CBS greenhouses will be there to answer questions about the plants. White Coat Ceremony: April 13, 1:30 p.m., St. Paul Student Center. Nominations sought for student travel award program
The Veterinary Student Liaison Committee of the American Society of Laboratory Animal Practitioners (ASLAP) is seeking nominations of veterinary students for the ASLAP Veterinary Student Travel Award Program. Up to five awards of up to $1,500 may be given towards registration, travel, meals, and accomodations to attend the 2008 AALAS national meeting in Indianapolis, Indiana, November 9-13, 2008.
