Alumni reunion honors class of 1957
Nearly 200 alumni, guests, faculty, and staff attended the College's annual alumni reunion on June 2. Honoring the class of 1957 (24 members of the class attended the reunion), the event offered College tours, a Raptor Center program and tour, an afternoon of continuing education programs, a social hour, and a barbecue. During a special tribute to longtime College professor Dr. Carl Osborne, Dean Jeff Klausner announced that the Osborne/Hill's Chair in Nephrology and Urology established in honor of Dr. Osborne had been fully funded, thanks to the financial support of Hill's Pet Nutrition Inc. and more than 450 donors.

Staff members recognized on staff appreciation day
Brenda Schmitz, senior accountant in the Veterinary Population Medicine Department, received the Carl Edborg III Award and Jeannine Moga, social worker in the Veterinary Medical Center, was awarded the Outstanding Faculty/Professional and Administrative Staff Award at the College's annual Staff Appreciation Day event on June 5. Longevity awards for 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, and 35 years of service were also presented. For the full list of award recipients, see the Award Winners Web page.
Dr. Laura Molgaard reappointed
Dean Jeff Klausner has reappointed Dr. Laura Molgaard as associate dean for academic and student affairs. In a June 6 announcement to CVM faculty, students, and staff, Dean Klausner wrote that "under Laura's leadership, the College has remained the destination of choice for increasing numbers of high-qualified veterinary students." Thanking Dr. Molgaard for her leadership and dedication to the College's academic and student programs, he cited the use of a behavioral interview, the Minnesota Leadership Experience and new student orientation, early clinical exposure and innovative teaching techniques, and the D.V.M./M.P.H. program. Congratulations, Dr. Molgaard!
Normal dogs aged 7-12 needed for study
Normal dogs between 7 and 12 years of age are needed for a study being conducted by Dr. Leslie Sharkey and Dr. Inese Berzina. The study involves exam, blood pressure, one blood sample, and follow-up calls for a year. The dogs need to have a normal medical history, not be on medications or supplements (except heartworm preventive), have a normal physical exam and serum creatinine level.
