What:
Fall Raptor Release

When:
Saturday, September 29, 2007, 10 a.m.-3 p.m.

Where:
Lake Rebecca Park Reserve, Rockford, Minnesota
Lake Rebecca Park Reserve is located approximately 30 miles west of Minneapolis on County Road 50. Take Highway 55 west to County Road 50, turn left and follow to the park entrance.

Why:
The Fall Raptor Release is co-sponsored by Three Rivers Park District and University of Minnesota The Raptor Center. The event is free! Visitors are reminded that pets are not allowed at the event. During this exciting celebration, participants can:

  • Watch in awe as raptors are returned to the wild.
  • Observe and photograph The Raptor Center’s eagles, falcons, hawks, and owls up close and personal.
  • Enter a drawing for a chance to release a raptor.
  • Listen to live music by regional Emmy Award-winning Michael Monroe.
  • Enjoy children’s activities and educational displays throughout the day.
  • Shop at the unique Raptor Center gift store.

Background:
Established in 1974, The Raptor Center at the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine is a non-profit, premiere scientific, educational, and medical organization striving to ensure the health, habitat and future of raptors and thereby the well-being of the world we share.

The Fall Raptor Release is co-sponsored by Three Rivers Park District, whose mission is to promote environmental stewardship through recreation and education in a natural resources-based park system. The Park District provides habitat for raptors within its 27,000 acres of park reserves, regional parks, and special-use facilities.

Photo and video opportunities will also be available at the event.
