Center for Animal Health and Food Safety The Center for Animal Health and Food Safety fosters public-private partnerships that advance new knowledge, innovative experiential learning programs and scientifically-sound public policy to advance global animal health and food safety leadership. Center for Dairy Health, Management, and Food Quality The mission of the Center for Dairy Health, Management, and Food Quality is to enhance dairy animal health and welfare and the efficient, profitable, and environmentally sound production of quality food for the consumer. Clinical Investigation Center The Clinical Investigation Center provides expertise, facilities, technical staff and overall study coordination for veterinary clinical trials and translational research studies that may lead to new drugs, devices, procedures, and treatments for the benefit of animals and humans alike. Equine Center The Equine Center hosts a comprehensive equine program, including undergraduate equine education, continued devotion to educating the next generation of equine veterinarians, and a focus on cutting-edge equine research. Global Initiative for Food Systems Leadership The Global Initiative for Food Systems Leadership trains the next generation of food systems leaders that can effectively function within networks and communities of practice to better manage challenges to global food systems. The Initiative fosters leadership through the use of shared tools and programs for sustainable leadership development. National Center for Food Protection and Defense The National Center for Food Protection and Defense supports research and education programs aimed at reducing the potential for contamination at any point along the food supply chain and mitigating potentially catastrophic public health and economic effects of such attacks. The Center incorporates cutting-edge research across a wide range of disciplines, taking a comprehensive, farm-to-table view of the food system and encompassing all aspects from primary production through transportation, food processing, retail, and food service. The Raptor Center The Raptor Center specializes in the medical care, rehabilitation, conservation, and study of eagles, hawks, owls, and falcons. The Center provides training in raptor medicine and surgery for veterinarians from around the world, reaching more than 250,000 people each year through public education programs and events, and identifying emerging issues for raptor health and populations. Swine Center The mission of the University of Minnesota Swine Center is to develop an infrastructure to foster and facilitate interdisciplinary approaches to research for solving pork industry problems, and to communicate current information to pork producers and other interested people of the state of Minnesota. Swine Disease Eradication Center The Swine Disease Eradication Center is engaged in research, teaching (professional and graduate), continuing education and certification related to many areas of swine health and production, with particular emphasis on disease control and eradication, and animal welfare. Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory University of Minnesota Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory (VDL) is a national leader in providing rapid diagnosis of animal diseases, identifying emerging diseases, developing new diagnostic methods, and training diagnosticians and veterinarians. VDL is the official laboratory of the Minnesota Board of Animal Health. Veterinary Medical Center The Veterinary Medical Center is the most advanced, full-service referral care center for large and small animals in Minnesota. Veterinarians in the Veterinary Medical Center see more than 35,000 cases annually, with specialists available in all areas of medicine and surgery.
