Responsible Conduct in Research

The RCR educational requirement has two parts: core courses and continuing education.

  • Core courses: Every PI must complete two core courses.
    • RCR Part 1 is offered only in person.
    • RCR Part 2 has three components; intellectual property and conflict of interest are offered electronically, and fiscal responsibility is offered in person.
  • Continuing education: After taking the two core courses, PI's are required annually to review the current regulations and policies regarding ethics in research.  This process is extremely important and very simple to do.  There are two requirements: information update and awareness/discussion (the first is in place now, and the second will begin in 2007).
  • Schedule and registration for requirements offered in person

Suggested wording to describe the process, if required by your funding agency.
