Proposals must be relevant to Agricultural Experiment Station (http://www.maes.umn.edu/About/index.htm) and PIs should describe how the proposed work is multidisciplinary, how the project will advance the EZD program, and how the results will be leveraged for external funding. Proposals must not exceed 7 pages. Proposed projects should provide direct benefits to the College of Veterinary Medicine and the State of Minnesota as these OADR funds originate from the Minnesota Agricultural Experiment Station's General Agriculture Research funds. Due DatePre-Proposals are due on January 30. Pre-Proposals will be reviewed for relevance to EZD Signature Program funding and will guide identification of reviewers for full proposals. Pre-Proposal Application InstructionsA two page pre-proposal (1-inch margins, 11-point Arial font) that includes the following should be submitted via vetres@umn.edu as a PDF with "EZD Pre-proposal" in the subject line: 1). Tentative project title 2). PI and Co-Investigator list 3). Estimated cost of project 4). Project Aims and Hypothesis 5). Statement regarding plans for future funding to be obtained from this project (see sample statement below)**: **Plan for Future External Funding (Sample Statement): We submitted a large grant to USDA-NIFSI in 2011 to address aspects of this current proposal. The grant was not funded. Reviewers commented that the proposal was well-written and would greatly advance our understanding of antibiotic resistance and the ability to develop interventions, but that key preliminary data were lacking. This current project, submitted to the EZD Signature Program, will allow us to generate some of the critical preliminary data we need to resubmit. In addition, we are in the process of developing a proposal that will be targeted to NIH and another that will be submitted to the Ecology of Infectious Diseases program at NSF-NIH-USDA. Our collaborators include academics at several universities as well individuals at key government agencies (FDA, CDC and USDA). Funding for future work will be sought from these agencies. Evidence of the collaboration with these agencies can be verified by a contract that we received from FDA to assist with the development of a new National Antimicrobial Resistance Monitoring System in the U.S. Perhaps most importantly, we have full industry cooperation through our collaboration with USPOULTRY, and there will be the opportunity to seek funding from this organization in the future. Full Application Instructions and deadline
By mid-February pre-proposals deemed responsive to EZD signature program priorities will be invited to submit a full application, which will be due on March 30, 2013. If you have been invited to submit a full application, please read the full application instructions and download the cover pages here.
