Funding

Funding for the Transition Management Facility

The College has been fortunate to receive substantial support as donations from several leading dairy related companies and organizations. We appreciate their commitment to the mission of the College and to serving the greater good of the dairy industry. Without their help, the TMF would simply not have happened.

We wish to thank the following donors who have become our Funding Partners in this venture:

The College of Veterinary Medicine of the University of Minnesota has invested approximately one million dollars in the capital costs of creating the TMF. In addition, the College will invest roughly $100,000 dollars per year in operating costs for its programs in the facility, including the cost of one DVM resident in advanced clinical and scientific training.

The College’s general funds contributed roughly $100,000 and the dairy faculty another $100,000 from funds earned and saved from external efforts over time prior to the creation of the TMF. The remainder of the funding must be raised from external, non-University sources or from faculty programs that generate revenue. This effort includes both the capital costs (a loan was provided by the University, payable in three years by the College) and all operating costs. The College is seeking an additional $400,000 to complete payment of the capital loan.

In addition, the practicing veterinarians and others in the dairy industry in our region have also given generously to support the furnishing and equipping of the dormitory and teaching facilities. The list of those donors is accessible at (web address).

Finally, an incalculable debt is owed to the owners and staff of the Baldwin / Emerald Dairies. Without their commitment and vision and willingness to risk this unique partnership for the dairy industry, the TMF would have remained an unfulfilled dream.
