Dear fellow horse enthusiast:

Welcome to the Leatherdale Equine Center at the University of Minnesota! It has been a long time in development but so worth the time and effort! We are proud to offer this state-of-the-art facility to the equine community and excited about sharing all it will provide for horses in the Midwest. Thank you to all our donors and supporters for making the Leatherdale Equine center a reality!

It is my pleasure to present you with this complimentary packet of helpful information. Most important for your horse, you will find an emergency information form enclosed. This form is incredibly valuable to your veterinary and referral hospital should you be unavailable when your horse has an emergency. Please fill this out and leave at your barn office.  Let everyone know where you keep the emergency form so when an emergency arises the very best care can be provided for your horse tailored to your wishes even if you are not immediately available.

You will also find information included about all of the services and programs offered by the University of Minnesota Equine Center and our affiliate organizations. Until phase II of the Equine Center is complete, we will be providing clinical services at two sites on the St. Paul campus.  Information about the separate services provided at The Piper Performance Clinic in the Leatherdale Equine Center and the Equine Emergency and Critical Care Service in the current Large Animal Hospital are provided on this page. Click here to download the handout.

Only at the University of Minnesota Equine Center will you have access to the most comprehensive services, advanced diagnostics, and expert compassionate medical and surgical care. Whether you are seeing one of our board-certified clinicians or experiencing the power of our new technology, the University of Minnesota Equine Center is dedicated to advancing the health, well-being and performance of your horse.

We invite you to learn more about our research, education, community outreach and clinical services provided by this world class facility.

Thank you for taking the time to visit our Web site and I look forward to seeing you at the Leatherdale Equine Center, the heart and home of Minnesota's horse community.

Sincerely,

Stephanie Valberg, D.V.M., Ph.D. Diplomate ACVIM
Professor and Director of the Equine Center
