The University of Minnesota Horse Program
"Providing Research Based Information to Minnesota Horse Owners"

The mission of the Horse Program is to provide unbiased,
research-based information to Minnesota horse owners, focusing on horse care,
facilities, health, nutrition, pasture, and mature management that will increase
the knowledge of horse owners and improve the quality of care for horses in Minnesota.
The Horse Program provides a monthly email newsletter, short publications,
evening programs, regional outreach seminars, and website publications
and information to horse owners, either free or at a reduced cost.

Topics include:
- General horse care – information on safety, pest control, trailer maintenance,
liability issues, and tack fitting
- Horse facilities – information on fencing, air quality, facility design,
and site planning
- Horse nutrition – information on hay feeding and testing, nutrition basics,
supplements, vitamins, and minerals
- Pasture management – information on manure management, pastures establishment,
pasture renovation, rotational grazing, and weed control
- Horse Health – information on common disorders, chiropractic, dentistry,
behavior, reproduction, emergencies, genetic disorders, vaccinations and worming,
first aid and hoof care
