Shivers

This website is part of a project dedicated to gathering information about the equine condition “Shivers,” or “Shivering.” Little is known about the disease; why horses get it, how it progresses, or even how to successfully treat it. It can be very frustrating to have a horse with a condition such as this that no one knows anything about.

Our goal is to accumulate data on as many horses with Shivers and possible and attempt to define risk factors. Only then can we begin to decipher whether the condition is affected by variables such as gender, breed, diet, exercise, weather, or secondary infection.

By assisting in our project, you provide us with vital information that will further our understanding of Shivers and most importantly, how to manage it. In addition, when you complete the survey and submit video, you will receive a veterinary diagnosis of whether or not your horse truly has Shivers within 3 weeks of our receipt of the video. If you are interested in participating in further studies, please be sure to click on the link above.

In order to make a true diagnosis of Shivers, it is essential that you complete the survey to the best of your knowledge and mail us a video following the specified format. Please make sure the information on the survey and the video matches.

Thank you for your help with this project.
