Main research interest is in immunogenetics of human inflammatory diseases. Specifically, Dr. Wu’s lab is investigating the roles of immune-related gene polymorphisms in the pathogenesis of chronic human inflammatory diseases (lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, and cardiovascular diseases). In addition, Dr. Wu is also studying the genetics of human neutrophil antigens involving in transfusion related diseases.

“Human immunoglobulin Fc receptor functions in sarcoidosis”. The study is intended to determine whether genetic variations in the genes coding for immunoglobulin Fc receptors play an important role in the pathogenesis of sarcoidosis.
“Genetic mechanism of human neutrophil antigen 2 system in transfusion medicine”. The study is intended to delineate the genetic mechanism of human neutrophil antigen 2 deficiency phenotype and to assess the effect of novel CD177 SNPs on the HNA-2 surface expression in vitro.
“Function of FcγRIIC gene in rheumatoid arthritis”. The goal of this project is to characterize the function of human FcγRIIC gene in B cell activation and to investigate whether FcγRIIC polymorphisms are associated with disease risk for rheumatoid arthritis and severity.
