Cardiology
Damon Leeder, Resident Janet Olson, Resident Christopher D. Stauthammer, Assistant Clinical Professor Dr. Stauthammer completed his undergraduate and veterinary studies at the University of Illinois. He continued his professional training as an intern and resident in Comparative Cardiology at the University of Minnesota. In 2009, Dr. Stauthammer joined the faculty as an assistant clinical professor of Cardiology. Dr. Stauthammer has received several teaching, service, and academic awards. He is actively involved in Clinical Research at the University of Minnesota and provides excellent training and education to DVM students, interns, and residents. Anthony H. Tobias, Cardiology, Associate Clinical Professor Dr. Anthony Tobias graduated with honors in Zoology from Rhodes University in South Africa. He continued his veterinary studies at the University of Pretoria where he earned a Bachelor of Veterinary Science degree. Dr. Tobias completed his residency in Cardiology at the University of California at Davis. After his residency, Dr. Tobias returned to the University of Pretoria where he completed a Master of Veterinary Medicine (M. Med. Vet). In 1995, Dr. Tobias earned a doctorate in Zoophysiology at Washington State University. As an associate professor of Cardiology in the Veterinary Clinical Sciences Department, Dr. Tobias provides exceptional education to our veterinary students. He has been recipient of numerous teaching awards including the Small Animal Clinical Sciences Excellence in Teaching Award, Class Teaching Award from the Sophomore Class for 2000 – 2001, and the Award for Curriculum Development and Revision. In addition to teaching in the veterinary curriculum, Dr. Tobias mentors residents and interns, provides quality, compassionate care to clients in the Veterinary Medical Center and engages in clinical and laboratory research.
