New Diagnostic Tool for Mastitis Pathogen Identification March, 2014
The University of Minnesota Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory has a new instrument for identifying bacterial organisms. This instrument is called the MALDI TOF MS, which stands for matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry. The Laboratory for Udder Health is now using this instrument to identify mastitis-causing bacteria in milk samples.
