Special Equipment:

The veterinary dental operatory at the University of Minnesota Veterinary Medical Center is a state-of-the-art facility. This 500 square foot facility houses two workstations for basic and advanced dental procedures. Each work station is equipped with a surgical table, a digital dental radiology unit, a high speed air driven unit, surgical lighting and dental assistant chairs to perform “four” handed dentistry. The staff includes a board certified veterinary dentist, a registered dental hygienist/certified veterinary technician, a veterinary dental technician and a dental resident. The dental service has over 50 years of veterinary dental experience.

Cases seen at the dental service include but are not limited to, periodontics, endodontics, oral surgery (including extractions, palate surgery, oral tumors, trauma and fractures), restorations (including crowns), orthodontics and oral medicine. While the dental operatory is fully capable of managing and treating all oral diseases, the dental service works closely and consults with, other services at the Veterinary Medical Center to ensure the pet receives the best care possible.
