Useful information
Ultrasound can be done on an outpatient basis, during normal ultrasound appointment slots (M-F, 9:30 am ? 3:30 pm). This service includes the full abdominal scan, a phone call from radiologist to the referring DVM, and a faxed written report. Outpatient referral ultrasounds are not done on weekends or after hours. Due to variation in caseload, please call and make an appointment for outpatient ultrasounds. Outpatient ultrasounds can usually be performed within one to two days from the request. If an emergency ultrasound is needed, the patient should be referred to the appropriate VMC clinician.
Fine needle aspirates or biopsies are not done on an outpatient referral basis.
Animals that may need to be sedated, needing fine needle aspirates or biopsies must come through a VMC clinician.
