For Referring Veterinarians

Dear Referring Partner,

On behalf of the Veterinary Medical Center and the College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Minnesota, I want to thank you for your support of our program. Referrals are absolutely critical to our teaching, research, and service missions and help further the state of veterinary care in Minnesota and the upper Midwest.

The Veterinary Medical Center has grown to be one of the largest veterinary teaching hospitals in the country yet we strive to provide the same level of personalized, compassionate care that clients have come to expect. Behind the scenes, your patients receive the advantage of carefully orchestrated, team-based care that includes world-renowned specialists, dedicated residents and interns, highly skilled veterinary technicians (many with advanced certifications) and staff, and enthusiastic students - driven to provide the highest standards of compassionate, cutting-edge care.

This has been a busy year for us with the opening of our Piper Performance Clinic in our beautiful new Leatherdale Equine Center, addition of a GE 3T MRI unit (the largest magnet for veterinary use in the world), and a Varian 2100C linear accelerator to enhance greatly our ability to treat cancer in animals. Our new Advanced Veterinary Imaging Direct (AVID) service now provides veterinarians direct outpatient access to our advanced imaging capabilities. Now your practice has ready access to the region's most powerful diagnostic imaging capabilities and our nationally renowned team of radiologists without the need to refer to one of our admitting services.

In addition, we've implemented 80+ process improvements this year, in an effort to improve our level of service. To monitor how we are doing, we now track almost two dozen metrics, including indicators of customer service, efficiency, employee satisfaction, professional development, as well as traditional financial figures. We listen to our RDVMs and clients through easy-to-complete surveys and respond to make sure we met or exceeded your expectations.

Your partnership with the U is important to us and to our future veterinarians. We look forward to working with you again this year. Thank you for your continued support!

Sincerely,

David E. Lee, D.V.M., M.B.A.

MyVMC is a Web-based portal allowing our referring providers access to cases they have referred to the VMC. To gain access, request a username/password, and within three business days, you will receive confirmation of access and can begin reviewing discharge instructions, in-house lab results, and prescriptions. Other access (such as imaging procedures and external lab results) will be coming online in the future.
