For Referring Veterinarians

Dear Referring Partner,

On behalf of the Veterinary Medical Center and the College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Minnesota, I want to thank you for your support of our program. Referrals are absolutely critical to our teaching, research, and service missions and help further the state of veterinary care in Minnesota and the upper Midwest.

The Veterinary Medical Center has grown to be one of the largest veterinary teaching hospitals in the country yet we strive to provide the same level of personalized, compassionate care that clients have come to expect. Behind the scenes, your patients receive the advantage of carefully orchestrated, team-based care that includes world-renown specialists, dedicated residents and interns, highly-skilled veterinary technicians (many with advanced certifications) and staff, and enthusiastic students ⿿ driven to provide the highest standards of compassionate, cutting-edge care.

This has been a busy year for us with the opening of our Piper Performance Clinic in our beautiful new Leatherdale Equine Center, addition of a GE 3T MRI unit (the largest magnet for veterinary use in the world), and a Varian 2100C linear accelerator to enhance greatly our ability to treat cancer in animals. In addition, we⿿ve implemented 80+ process improvements this year, in an effort to improve our level of service. To monitor how we are doing, we now track almost two dozen metrics, including indicators of customer service, efficiency, employee satisfaction, professional development, as well as traditional financial figures. We listen to our RDVMs and clients through easy-to-complete surveys and respond to make sure we met or exceeded your expectations.

Your partnership with the ⿿U⿿ is important to us and to our future veterinarians. We look forward to working with you again this year. Thank you for your continued support!

Sincerely,

David E. Lee, D.V.M., M.B.A.
