VOLUNTEER POSITION DESCRIPTION
Large Animal Intensive Monitoring Volunteer
RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary responsibility of volunteers is assisting the Large Animal Hospital staff with patients that require around-the-clock monitoring.

Animals in a sling

Cows in the float tank
*
Animals on seizures watch
*
Animals receiving blood transfusions
*
Impending deliveries
*
Other animals in critical conditions
*
Foals and other young stock while dam is in surgery
HOURS
Volunteers sign up for 4-hour shifts on a monthly basis but only come in to volunteer if they are notified that they are needed for their shift; shifts are available 7 days a week around-the-clock.
QUALIFICATIONS
Must be 18 years of age, up-to-date with tetanus and rabies series shots.
Must complete orientation; willing to commit to one shift a week for six months (includes a one-month probation period).
VMC TRAINING
Initial training and ongoing in-service training is provided by staff supervisor, volunteer manager, and other staff.
