Preparation for General Anesthesia

Please note that appropriate testing and preparation must be completed prior to being anesthetized for the medical imaging procedure.

The following are the minimum requirements:

  • Please offer no food after 10pm the night before the procedure. Water can be provided up to hospital admission.
  • The testing should meet the requirements listed below.
  • Information from the testing should include :
    • Hard copies of the labwork results.
    • Information regarding when, where and by whom the labwork was performed.
  • Fill in the Online Imaging Request form and submit it to us or fill out the Imaging Request pdf form and fax it to us at (612) 626-6733.
  • Please note if fine needle aspirates are planned, a platelet count will be indicated within 72 hours of the procedure.  If core biopsies are planned, a coagulation profile will be indicated within 72 hours of the procedure.

(1) CBC should include at least: Hematocrit, White Blood Cell Count, Differential

(3) Pre-Anesthetic Profile should include at least: ALB, ALT, CREAT, GLU, Na, K
(4) Urinalysis (UA) should include: Urine specific gravity
